Wednesday’s City Council public meeting should be the shortest on record. Except for nine items on the consent calendar that are often adopted without comment – they have had plenty of comment in past meetings – nothing is on the agenda.

The council’s work will not be done when the public leaves, however. It will go into closed session to confer with attorneys about what is described as “anticipated litigation.”

Councilmembers also are scheduled to decide on items for discussion at future meetings.

Of the consent calendar items, four are reports on the city’s financial health, with finance and investment reports for the city and the Redevelopment Agency for June and July. A fifth entry is the fourth quarter performance update.

Moving past columns of figures, council will also appoint one planning commissioner and two members of the Architectural Review Board to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s Plan Design Enhancement Committee.

They will be asked to approve the city co-sponsoring a “Care and Comfort Military Care Package” program.

Finally, in a matter that could be of interest to business owners, or potential business owners, council will consider final adoption of newly revised business assistance guidelines. The city’s business assistance program traditionally helps with store front improvements and other necessities of boosting a business.

The complete Council agenda is available at the City Clerk’s desk in City Hall and on line. City Council and/or the Redevelopment Agency meets at 7 p.m. most Wednesdays in City Hall Chambers, 17555 Peak Ave. Details: www.morganhill.ca.gov or 779-7271. Council meetings are broadcast live on cable access channel 17.
