Republicans prevent any increases in revenue
Dear Editor,
In 2000 America was on track to pay off our national debt completely in 2010, with a $2.3 trillion surplus in 2011.
Today we have a $14.3 trillion debt, despite the 2008 elections. Republicans staged a comeback in 2010 to prevent any increase in revenue to pay down the debt.
If American voters help them by giving them control of the Senate and the White House, they intend to pay off the national debt entirely by cutting Federal Government expenditures. It will be interesting to see what American voters do.
