City should first solve more serious problems before tackling smoking

Dear Editor,

I read the article in this morning’s edition of your fair paper of the City of Morgan City Council’s pending proposal on banning outdoor smoking. Hopefully this is their initial attack on things that threaten our city. And with this in mind, I know that once they have accomplished this task, they will next pursue with a vengeance other dangerous menaces that plague Morgan Hill.

I anxiously look forward to the frontal attack on illegal use of drugs and their manufacturing, the escalating gang violence and the explosion of graffiti appearing around town. I just hope they have the fortitude to go after the issues that are significant to a quality life style and not just target something that is a long ways down the list based on overall importance.

Veteran’s heavy heart reminds us to thank those in the military

Dear Editor,

Recently, I felt the lowest I have felt in years upon hearing of the death of 30 or more sailors and soldiers in one single incident.

My heart is heavy with the loss of these men and women who work tirelessly to protect us from those that seek to do us harm.

These military personal do not make a great deal of money and work in the worst of conditions yet give years of their life to protect America.

I wish to extend my sincerest of sorrow to the families of these heroic men and women through your public forum.

I feel proud of what our military does for us and appreciate the effort of each and every member and I thank them for protecting us and our freedom.

To your readership I ask: Please take a moment to thank a military man or woman for their service that they provide to keep you from harm and ensure your freedom.
