It was a great day for a run and the 2021 Veterans Run proved to be just that. Sparkling fall weather with El Toro Mountain as a backdrop made the day truly memorable; but most important was the opportunity for the community to come together in support of organizations that assist and promote veterans.
An enthusiastic group of runners came from San Francisco to Santa Cruz and beyond to compete with local runners in a kids 1 mile, a 5k and a 10k.
Race Director, Vietnam Veteran and local architect, Charles Weston, said, “This year’s event was not just a great run but an opportunity to support and connect directly with nonprofit recipients the Blue Star Moms, Operation Freedom Paws, DreamPower Horsemanship, Project Hired, the Freedom Fest and 22 Too Many. The $25,000 profit will be shared with all the organizations.
“The race wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for all of our sponsors and particularly, thanks to Toeniskoetter, Cochran Storage, Smith Commercial Management and Edward Boss Prado Foundation who really stepped it up this year. And the City of Morgan Hill Police Department for their help in keeping the race safe!”
