Leadership Morgan Hill class of 2005 has made downtown recycling in Morgan Hill the focus of this year’s class project for Earth Day 2005.
The 23 members of 2005’s leadership class will develop and implement a comprehensive plan that includes an analysis of successful city recycling, education programs for adults and students and placement of visible new recycling containers throughout our downtown Morgan Hill.
A sponsorship program targeted at local business and individual contributions kicked off Friday during the 2005 Earth Day Art and Science Fair at the Morgan Hill Community Center. Community involvement and education is the keystone to a successful project, class members said.
The project will be done in conjunction with South Valley Disposal & Recycling and the City of Morgan Hill. The unique logo for this campaign will not only identify the new receptacles but also be used to create a lasting and sustainable reminder for our community.
The education committee will work with the local organizations, both adult and student, to raise awareness of successful, clean recycling of plastic bottles, all cans and glass containers in everyday lives.
“I applaud this class of 2005’s effort and look forward to a project that contributes to the beauty of downtown Morgan Hill,” said Steve Tate, city councilman and Leadership Morgan Hill president. “Especially as we enter our centennial celebration in 2006.”
Leadership in Morgan Hill is an organization of people who contribute to the community through volunteerism, education and involvement.
This mission is to ignite the passion, inspire the commitment and sharpen the skills of the leaders who will create a dynamic Morgan Hill.
