The Morgan Hill History Museum unveiled a new exhibit last Saturday titled “Through Their Eyes.” This creative exhibit highlights the life and times of five distinguished current residents of Morgan Hill: Dan Benz, Ed Enderson, Mary Pena, Vic Puppo, and Yoshie Yokoi.

The five were honored by receiving a special commendation from the city of Morgan Hill and the County of Santa Clara. The commendations were delivered by Mayor Steve Tate and District 1 Supervisor Don Gage. The ceremony, attended by more than 100 family members and friends of the honorees and of the Class of 2010, was followed by a reception hosted by several local vendors including Catered by Diana, Custom Creations Photography, MAD Cookie Co., Morgan Hill Access Television (MHAT), Party Rental Outlet, TIMptations of the Week, Fastframe, and Costco.com and a musical presentation by jazz vocalist Risa Feely, accompanied by Mark Gaetano on keyboard.

The exhibit is the brainchild of Leadership Morgan Hill’s Class of 2010 project and it incorporates four major components: Very particular to the agricultural contributions of this geographic area, has a human element, is artistic in design and outcome and has a sense of permanency.

In addition to the honorees’ humble beginnings in agriculture; there were other common factors. All are sons and daughters of immigrants from countries such as Japan, Mexico, England, Austria, and Italy. All attribute their work ethic to their immigrant parents and to their love and support of their spouses.
