MORGAN HILL — Sobrato was not going to let its first league win slip away — not even in overtime.

Courtney Sedlak scored 16 points, including a late 3-pointer that helped send the game to overtime, and Michelle Bradley added 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting in the Lady Bulldogs’ 55-49 victory over Westmont on Wednesday in Sobrato Gym.

Bradley also had seven rebounds; and Sedlak five steals. Katie Nicca scored four of her six points in overtime for the Bulldogs, who moved to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division.

Sobrato led 22-14 at halftime, but ended up rallying from a five-point deficit in the fourth quarter after Westmont’s shooting heated up. Eager to snap a four-game losing streak, the Warriors (7-7 overall, 0-3 BVAL) opened the third quarter on an 11-3 scoring run, tying the game 25-25 when Chantel Tally sank a layup with 3:05 left in the period. Westmont led by three heading into the fourth quarter and pushed ahead 32-27 with another layin by Tally, who matched teammates Elle Koshiyama and Christine Dupic with seven points.

The Bulldogs answered with a 15-6 run, capped by a deep 3 from Sarina Santiago, and led 41-38 with two minutes remaining. But Sarina Araujo made two free throws, and Dupic rattled home a layup with just under a minute to go, putting the Warriors back in front 42-41.

Sobrato coach Natalie Bobuk called for a timeout at the other end, but couldn’t be heard over the crowd. That allowed Sedlak to throw up a trey from four steps behind the 3-point line. It banked in with 33 seconds left.

Westmont tied it 44-44 on a put-back shot by Kayla Blakley with 19 seconds remaining, then picked off a Sobrato inbound pass at midcourt. The Warriors missed three shots inside the paint before the horn sounded.

Nicca, who had six rebounds, made a pair of clutch layups and Melissa Cachopo nailed a trey in the extra period to ice the win.

Khali Blackman-Newton led Westmont with eight points. Koshiyama had seven rebounds to go with four assists and three steals.
