All-league softball lists include five underclassmen from Morgan

MORGAN HILL — Alex Sutton has to be excited about her second year as coach of Live Oak softball. She has a trio of all-league honorees coming back.
Junior Jenna Robertson and sophomores Priscilla Orona and Kayla Cisneroz were named to the first- and second-team all-Mount Hamilton Division list released Monday. Robertson made the first team, and Orona and Cisneroz the second.
“They were our most consistent players in league (play),” said Sutton, whose Lady Acorns finished seventh at 8-15 overall and 4-10 in league this spring. “They were the ones that come through.”
Listed at second base, Robertson posted a .400 batting average and a .429 on-base percentage in league play. She had nine hits.
Orona batted .278 with a .366 OBP while starting at shortstop, and Cisneroz, an outfielder, finished .333 and .429. Both sophomores collected three RBIs apiece in division contests.
“Their stats say a lot about them,” Sutton said.
Sobrato also produced multiple all-league underclassmen in sophomore Nicole Larson and junior Frankie Kellet, who were named first- and second-team Santa Teresa Division infielders.
It marks Larson’s second straight trip to the all-league list. She made the first team as a freshman a year ago.
“I was really pushing for her to make MVP, but our win-loss record hurt our chances,” Sobrato coach Bob Clampett said. “I expect big things out of her next year. Hopefully, her talent rubs off onto her teammates.”
The sixth-place Lady Bulldogs finished 5-21 overall, including a 3-11 league mark.
“Had our wins been better, Frankie would have been first team all league, but we only got one first-team selection,” Clampett added.
Live Oak and Sobrato both elected to stay in their respective divisions for next year.
