The Mt. Hope Cemetery hired a new maintenance worker who’s out
there five days a week, doing great things. We appreciate it
because we lost a loved one not too long ago and I was upset, as
were many others, with how it looked. But, we need to give them
props and hope they keep it up.

Dear Pleased, Red Phone couldn’t agree more, and would like to think an April 28 Red Phone item about how poor the cemetery looked had some impact. So good caller, Red Phone is glad to hear things are looking better.
Paper needs to support readers
“I have a complaint. Why don’t you support the people of Morgan Hill regarding the music series? I’ve read stories and it seems you lean more toward the Chamber of Commerce and moving the series, but according to your Web poll, more people are in favor of keeping it downtown. You should support the Morgan Hill people because they’re the ones who buy the paper.”
Dear Support the People, the stories we ran regarding the Chamber of Commerce vote to move the series were unbiased and told both sides of the story. That’s the job of the reporter. However, you are correct, the paper’s editorial board, which is made up of eight community members, agreed with the chamber and the editorial on the opinion page reflected that discussion. The paper’s job is not to support those who buy the paper, but to report the facts of the story. Good caller, also check out an online story regarding the decision to revote, after much public outcry.
