I came from a generation where we went from farmland to fab lines. Seeing all this change and manipulation of our ecosystem for the betterment of mankind. Knowing what was started in the Silicon Valley impacted the entire world.
Our jobs have changed from aching muscles to panic attacks. We have gone from working in a manufacturing facility, to working in a 8 by 8 padded block. Our lives are so full of stress that we have to take time off to relieve it.
This is where the city of San Martin comes into play. This is one of only a few places where you can go home, put your feet up, listen to a few cows, a rumble of a train, and the scatter of the birds. Where ‘going home’ is like going on a little vacation. It’s a place where I can forget about work and relax. Progress is not how many malls we can build, but how many lives we can fulfill.
After my folks were gone, my brother moved into our old house. He had taken what my father had built in the 50s and upgraded it but still keeping the house’s simple charm. This in how we wish to run San Martin. Taking what may have been neglected and upgrading it. Simple but clean.
This is why we must incorporate. To give firmness to our voice. It would be nice to know when we say ‘no,’ we mean ‘No’!
