sophomore standout Cobbie Jones broke through with a personal
record in the 1,600 at the Kearney Invitational at Hartnell College
on Saturday.
After debuting in the event the weekend before, Live Oak High sophomore standout Cobbie Jones broke through with a personal record in the 1,600 at the Kearney Invitational at Hartnell College on Saturday.
Jones ran the 1,600 in 5:09.25, breaking her previous best time by about three seconds. Jones’ time is also believed to be a new school record, according to Acorn coach Dean Raymond who called Jones’ time “very impressive.”
Also earning a PR for the Acorns was junior Brandon Powell, who turned in a second-place finish in the 110 high hurdles in 15.72.
Other standouts for Live Oak at the event included Azucena Atanacio, who finished third in the discus at 110-5, Tanya Tenorio, fifth in the discus at 103-6 1/2, and Ashley Ceaser, who took sixth in the high jump at 4-8.
