Jesus Rubio Espinoza, 81, died Nov. 15, 2004, at his home in Gilroy.
A native of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, he came to the United States in 1945 as a bracero (migrant farmworker). He was a knowledgeable person due to his immense love for books. He was passionate about furthering his scientific knowledge. He was constantly reading books about the mechanics and physics of objects, he made practical inventions, and he was a mechanic at heart. He loved astronomy, and enjoyed being able to witness natures’ wonders.
Mr. Rubio Espinoza is survived by his children Rosario and her husband Jose Castaneda of Gilroy, Evangelina and her husband Juan Triana of Gilroy, Alicia and her husband Epifanio of Phoenix, Ariz., Elvia and her husband Juan Pablo of Gilroy, Miguel Rubio and his wife Rosaura of Gilroy, Delfina Rubio of Gilroy, Maria de Jesus Ru-bio of Gil-roy, and Lilia and her husband Jesus Ibarra of Gil-roy; brothers Santiago Rubio, Faustino Rubio; sister Inez Rubio; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Hernandez-Rubio, who died on April 12, 2004.
Services take place at 10am today, Nov. 20, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Burial follows at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
