As children scrubbed the playground, their parents hosed the area down. Meanwhile, moms and dads and brothers and sisters stooped over the dirt around the complex and planted flowers and trees while others re-painted the red around the curbs of the 72-unit complex.
A large trash container was provided for large items, and an e-waste station was set up.
Participants received a free T-shirt and lunch, care of National NeighborWorks Week. The event is sponsored by NeighborWorks America, a national nonprofit. Each year, South County Housing uses the program to clean up one of its complexes.
Businesses including Home Depot and Sherwin-Williams helped out by providing discounted supplies.
