Jamie Thomas Sousa died April 26, 2003, while fishing near his home in Oregon. He was 29.

Jamie was raised and educated in Gilroy and was the youngest son of Dick and Alice Sousa. Jamie was the brother to Richard, Geralyn and Steve Fortino, Marianne and Don Smith, Ted, Jim and Sumi Sousa.

Jamie was a lover of nature and the outdoors. To him, perfection and fulfillment in life was any day, good or bad, of fishing. While his life was brief, it was a loving and complete one, lived to the fullest and exactly as he wished.

Jamie is survived by his partner in love and life, Denia Clevenger. He was the much loved uncle to Miles, Mitchell, Dalilah and Dustin Sousa, Nicholas, Daniel and Adam Fortino, Joshua Smith, Marikah, Samuel and Shantille Simonson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Gilroy. The family requests donations in his honor to The Lord’s Table in Gilroy or the Reachout Food Pantry in Morgan Hill.

Local arrangements were by Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
