The inaugural Bites of Morgan Hill event, a self-guided walking tour of downtown restaurants and their cuisine, was a resounding success, according to organizers.
The Morgan Hill Downtown Association sold nearly 200 tickets for the March 3, at $40 each, according to MHDA office manager Raquel Crowell.
Eleven downtown restaurants participated in the event, each offering a sample of their menu offerings.
“People got to try something they never would have tried before, people tasted from restaurants they’ve never ate at, and there was enough variety that even if you couldn’t eat at one there was plenty from everywhere else,” Crowell said.
Randi Bara, manager of Ricatoni’s restaurant on Monterey Road, said she hopes the MHDA makes Bites of Morgan Hill an annual event. The restaurant saw about 150 patrons with Bites tickets pass through their restaurant, each enjoying a short rib burger and half a grilled artichoke.
“People seemed to enjoy it – we had nice weather and great food. It’s a great way to get people to the downtown businesses,” Bara said.
