More than 100 marijuana plants were seized from a house’s back

Morgan Hill – More than 100 marijuana plants were seized from a house’s back yard just four blocks from the Morgan Hill Police Department Wednesday morning, after a construction worker alerted police of the find last week.
The illegal grow was discovered when part of the fence behind the residence on Bisceglia Avenue was knocked down during construction at a housing project on Church Street just south of downtown Morgan Hill, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.
Police obtained a search warrant and served it Wednesday morning at approximately 10am, cutting down 118 marijuana plants from the backyard.
Each plant is equivalent to approximately one pound of street product. The estimated street value of the mature marijuana is $3,000 per pound, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer, so the Bisceglia grow could have sold for $354,000.
William Robinson, 44, of Morgan Hill, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for alleged cultivation of marijuana. He was arrested without incident, Swing said.
There was a female also at the home, but she was detained and then released. No children were found in the residence, though there was a room with toys in it that is used for storage. Officers took a dog from the home into protective custody.
Neumayer said Det. Greg Dini was the lead detective for the street crimes team on the case, writing the search warrant and organizing the raid.
A small amount of the confiscated plants will be kept as evidence in the case, but the rest will be destroyed by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, which has a group of officers dedicated to marijuana eradication in the county, according to Neumayer.
