Augusta National Golf Club will welcome the best players in the world to test their skills on its lighting fast-undulated greens.
I attended the Masters in 1998. TV doesn’t show you the beauty and the elevation change of the course and the severe slopes of the greens.
In preparing for his first Masters appearance, Tiger Woods practiced on Stanford’s indoor basketball court to get used to the speed. Now that’s fast!
Putting on fast greens can be a little nerve racking causing you to be too tentative.
Next time you’re faced with a downhill slippery putt, line it up on the toe instead of lining the ball in the middle of the clubface.
This will deaden the putt so you can make a more natural stroke, keeping the ball on line without worrying about running too far past the hole.
This tip also works well with chip shots. Practicing these techniques will allow you to be more aggressive and creative in you’re short game.
