As temperatures continue to hover in the 90s after peaking a triple digits earlier this week, one of the hottest places to stay cool this summer is the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center. But the swim facility that boasts three pools, water slides, fountains and geysers isn’t just for members every day, as the center welcomes day visitors and, on at least one day in August, free admission for residents.
On Aug. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Aquatics Center will host “community free day,” during which locals can bring their families to swim and play for free. And from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 15 at the city’s swimming pools across town at the Centennial Recreation Center, 171 W. Edmundson Ave., will be “Family Fun Night at the Pool.” Admission is free for CRC members at the Aug. 15 event as well.
The Aquatics Center, located at 16200 Condit Road, offers a new inflatable obstacle course, known as “Splash’s Dash,” for the first time this summer. The feature runs the length of the center’s competition pool and includes slides, climbs and other obstacles.
The Aquatics Center also hosts a recreation pool with a “water playground,” and a warm-water instructional pool for fitness classes and swim lessons.
Day passes to the Aquatics Center for non-members are available, at a cost of $5 to $14 per day, depending on the patron’s age and city of residence (prices for Morgan Hill residents are lower).
