Don’t be surprised if there’s a decidedly green and gold theme at the Central Coast Section Swim Finals at the Santa Clara Swim Center on Friday and Saturday.

That’s because a total of 20 Live Oak High swimmers and divers will compete in 17 different events.

After capping an undefeated league dual meet season by winning the Tri-County Athletic League championships last weekend, the Acorn boys and girls swim teams are rolling into CCS.

If there was ever a team with an embarassment of riches, it’s Live Oak.

Among the Acorn boys who will compete this weekend are: senior David Dunn (100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke), senior Travis Aviles (50 freestyle), junior Ryan Gautschi (100 breaststroke), sophomore Justin Short (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle), freshman Cameron Peachy (100 backstroke) and freshman Kyle Fast (500 freestyle). In addition, juniors Dennis Lowe and Korey Robinson, and sophomore Shea Coleman will swim with their teammates in all three relays at the section finals.

Acorn girls who will compete include: senior Susan Suchomel (100 butterfly), sophomore Ronni Gautschi (100 freestyle), sophomore Laura Melroy (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle), and freshman Laura Shope (100 freestyle). Also, senior Jessica Kapetanic, junior Amanada Cretcher and sophomores Amy Marshall and Breanna Sennert will compete in all three relays.

Finally, divers Lee Bell and Stephan Shope will also compete at the CCS finals.
