Homeless families in Santa Clara County have a new avenue to affordable housing through the recently formed Housing First Collaborative sponsored by the Housing Industry Foundation, the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation, and the Sobrato Family Foundation.

Modeled after a system in Los Angeles that seeks to shorten emergency shelter stays for homeless families by moving them into affordable housing on a faster track, Housing First brings together the Schwab Foundation, Emergency Housing Consortium, the Housing Industry Foundation, InnVision, Housing Authority of Santa Clara County, and the Sobrato Family Foundation to pilot a program in Santa Clara County .

Housing First aims to relocate 125 homeless families each year through case management, supportive services, and follow-up care. Emergency Housing Consortium will lead the Housing First Steering Committee in its mission and has received a $280,000 grant
