I came accross this news item today about a facelift for a downtown building

I enjoyed the article on the Votaw building at Second and Monterey streets. I am the great grandson of Meritt Chandler Votaw.

One interesting fact about the bank’s history. After the 1906 earthquake, traveling by buckboard on bank business my great grandfather and his brother were one of the first people from the southland to enter San Francisco after the disaster to get money to keep the bank functioning.

I am glad the Votaw building is being cared for.
