LIVERMORE — Amay Poria of Morgan Hill earned a trip back to the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Championships with a second-place effort at a May 16 qualifying tournament in Livermore.

The Martin Murphy Middle School eighth-grader shot a 10-over-par 82 at Las Positas Golf Club, finishing three strokes behind Owen Hutchison of San Jose in the boys 14-year-old division.

Poria will make his second straight appearance at the Teen World Championships, held at historic Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. The tournament is scheduled to begin July 31.

Tiffany Lim, a regular at Coyote Creek Golf Club, qualified for the Women’s U.S. Open last weekend, tying for first place at a sectional event in Corral de Tierra.

Lim, 16, shot a 149 through two rounds at Corral de Tierra Country Club and will be in the field for July 5-11 open in Oakmont, Pa.

Lim, a junior at Leland High School, was named Girls Player of the Year on the Northern California Junior Tour in 2008.
