After participating in the 2011 Frys.com Open as an amateur alongside Tiger Woods and Louis Oosthuizen, Patrick Cantlay will return to the October tournament hosted at CordeValle Golf Club this year.

After declaring he was going pro at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship this week, Cantlay, who won the Ben Hogan Award as the College Player of the year at UCLA last year, accepted a bid to Frys.com Open this week, according to a press release form the tournament.

Cantlay was the low amateur in the 2011 U.S. Open and the 2012 Masters.

“He is clearly good enough and just might do it,” tournament director Jeff Sanchez. “He is certainly an attractive addition to our field.”

Cantlay is the latest addition to the 2012 Frys.com Open field, which includes last year’s champion Bryce Molder and 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir.
