Dear Editor,
We want to publicly thank a Morgan Hill business owner who went beyond the call of duty when we employed him to haul dirt and rock. Our experience with Bill Jacobson of Jacobson Trucking is an excellent example of why it is great to live in a community like Morgan Hill and why one should engage local business people whenever possible.
We needed to remove a long, steep asphalt driveway and replace it with concrete. We hired Jacobson Trucking to do the hauling. The project went well because we had our nephew, an experienced heavy equipment operator to help us. Unfortunately, time ran out before he could finish, and he and his father had to return to Seattle. We were left with a bulldozer, two backhoes, and roller, but no operator.
When we called Bill to ask him to haul out some extra rock, we mentioned that we were in need of an operator. To our surprise, he arrived a short while later with someone who could finish the grading, and two of his employees to help. Knowing that we were renting the equipment, they got to work immediately. They stuck with us until the grade was correct and worked into the evening, saving us an additional day of equipment rental. Bill shoveled dirt and helped us sweep up the last bits of rock, finally leaving at 9pm.
There are many local businesses that provide services in the spirit of a small town. We particularly want to thank Bill and the workers he provided.
