Both local teams now in first place
SAN JOSE — With their 4-2 victory over Lincoln on Friday in San Jose, the Lady Bulldogs gained momentary ownership of first place in the Santa Teresa.
While previous front-runner Westmont enjoyed a day off, Sobrato moved ahead by .125 percent of a game.
The Bulldogs (6-1-6, 4-0-4) did so behind Jennae Cambra’s 14th and 15th goals of the season, plus a score by Marissa Benjamin and Nika Burnett, who added an assist. Benjamin has netted four goals in the past five games.
Lincoln (4-7-3, 3-2-2) entered the day unbeaten in two straight matches.
Live Oak 3, Branham 1
The Lady Acorns continued a full recovery from their first league loss a week ago with a 3-1 triumph at Branham on Friday.
And with that, Live Oak (8-2-4, 5-1-1) moved back atop the Mount Hamilton standings by less than a game over Santa Teresa and the Bruins (8-7-1, 5-3-1), who have played more games. The Acorns were scheduled to make up a game Monday at Leigh.
Tiffany Geer, Fabi Diaz and Sabrina Rice scored in the first half Friday for Live Oak with Megan Rauschnot collecting two assists.
Branham’s Shelby Salvacion found the net off a pass from Fatmata Kamara in the second.
