Police are looking for a driver who struck a 56-year-old Gilroy resident then drove away Sunday night, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Police say an unknown female driving a silver or gray vehicle hit the man as he crossed First Street between Rosanna and Hanna streets.
Witnesses called police at 8:51 p.m. to report a hit and run, according to the GPD.
When officers arrived, the victim was lying in the roadway being tended to by passersby, according to police.
The victim suffered major injuries to his upper arm and lower leg and was flown to a trauma center in San Jose for treatment. As of Monday afternoon, the victim’s was listed in critical condition, GPD Officer Amanda Stanford said.
This incident is being investigated by the GPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team. Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information about the incident or anyone who knows the identity of the driver is urged to contact the GPD at 408-846-0350 or anonymously at 800-782-7463.
