For those readers who do not know what the Sadies dance is, it is a great, outdoorsy event where the girls ask the guys and then the couples dress up in matching attire. Usually this event has a somewhat hillbilly/ cowboy flare to go along with the ranch setting.

Getting back to Saturday night, this dance was truly a success. The DJ was great, the hay ride was … well … crowded (always a good sign of a brilliant event), and the marriage hall was crazy. Shotgun weddings can get a little out of control at times.

As always, we had our faithful reverend, Marrying Sam (Norm Dow), who performed the endless ceremonies.

Though this dance was from 8 p.m. to midnight, many students started early and partied late. Some went with their dates to dinner beforehand and others went to get food at local fast-food restaurants afterward. Jack-in-the-Box was definitely the place to be after midnight.

All in all, the dance was a huge success, and although the ladies at Live Oak may have suffered some financial drainage, it was well worth it.
