The Gavilan College Board of Trustees Tuesday will consider appointing a short-term replacement for President Steve Kinsella, who will be taking about a one-month medical leave starting at the end of this month, according to Gavilan staff.

The pending appointment is listed on the board’s agenda for a closed meeting Tuesday, under the title “interim president.”

Kinsella will be out of commission for about a month for back surgery, starting later this month, according to Gavilan College spokeswoman Jan Bernstein-Chargin.

“He’s hoping to be back by the end of April,” Bernstein-Chargin.

No details on who the board will consider temporarily appointing to the office of president while Kinsella is out were immediately available Friday.
