When I walked into the San Martin Animal Shelter that August day, I wasn’t sure what I was looking for. I was never much of a cat person and I wasn’t sure if I had room in my heart for another pet, but I was drawn there.
I went into the kitty room and my heart just melted. There were so many cats without forever homes, all looking up at me meowing.
I didn’t know where to start or who cuddle first. All of a sudden, a sharp pain ran down my leg. I looked down and saw this little black ball of fur with   piercing green eyes staring back while using my leg as a scratching post.
I picked him up and we had an instant connection. The little kitten instantly just fell asleep in my arms, all the while purring away.
After a few hours of exploring my apartment and hiding, Gatsby, came out to say hello to and ever since he’s been making his presence known.
Gatsby loves torturing his big brother Coach – a mini labradoodle – and running wild at all hours of the night.
Gatsby loves to cuddle. He’ll bump your hand to scratch his head or climb up on you to make sure you’re paying attention to him and nothing else.
He’s one of the strangest and most unique felines I’ve ever met. He likes dog food more than his own, doesn’t mind the occasional bath and loves (attempting) to play fetch.
Gatsby has shown me that this dog lover can be crazy about her cat, too.
