Officers from the Gilroy Police Department responding to multiple 911 calls about gunfire on the 7500 block of Alexander Street Saturday evening discovered a 20-year-old male from Gilroy had been shot.

Officers were on the scene shortly after the first 911 calls at 6:32 p.m. and made contact with multiple victims and witnesses. Initial investigations have revealed that the unknown suspect(s) confronted the victim and fired multiple shots, according to a GPD press release. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a Bay Area trauma center by ambulance.

The suspect(s) fled the scene on foot, heading south on Alexander Street.

The name of the victim is being withheld by the GPD. No description of the suspect(s) has been released by GPD.

Officers conducted a probation compliance check at a nearby residence as a result of their preliminary investigation. During the compliance check, multiple subjects were interviewed.

California Highway Patrol, Santa Clara Sheriff’s Officer and Morgan Hill Police Department assisted with the investigation.

GPD’s Anti-Crime Team is investigating this incident as a gang-motivated crime.
