A gun-toting suspect, one of nearly a dozen men who assaulted a victim outside his Gilroy home Wednesday evening, broke a window and pointed a gun inside the home before fleeing the scene, police reported.

Officers responded to a disturbance call just before 8 p.m. near 500 East Seventh St., according to a press release.

Police said the young males believed to be in their 20s asked about the victim’s street gang affiliation, which he denied. One assailant threatened the victim with a firearm, but he escaped inside.

Gang members tried to force their way in, according to police, and broke the window after failed attempts.

Officers recovered evidence at the scene and are conducting interviews, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call the Gilroy Police Department’s ACT Unit at (408) 846-0350. Parties wishing to remain anonymous may call (408) 846-0330.
