Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, is our South County
Support-Your-Servicemembers Rally. Lynn and Ken Ludewig of the San
Martin Country Park, home of the Pumpkin Patch, are graciously
sponsoring this event. It helps that Lynn is known by all as
the
“Flag Lady.” So, bring your blanket, a great story to share,
some patriotic music, and your love and appreciation of our
warrior/protectors. For details give Lynn a call at 778-5436 or
Mary Ellen at 779-6916.

Ramstein AFB in Germany is still a hopping place, with our departing and returning troops as well as our wounded passing through. Although the war is officially over, our military is still participating in the rebuilding of Iraq, peacekeeping and other duties which carry an inherent danger. Your MorganHill.com is still collecting e-mails and letters which are sent to Landstuhl hospital. Please show your support by logging on to www.yourmorganhill.com/ourtroops to find out how you can send letters or notes of support.

Also, the graduation of the Citizen’s Emergency Response Team is Saturday.

With vacation time quickly approaching, it’s good to have the California Poison Control Center phone number handy, as little fingers and hands are much more busy this time of year. Give them a call 365/24/7 at 1-800-876-4766 for expert answers about poisonous plants, pesticides and emergencies. More than half of the poison exposures happen at home and more than half of them involve children under 6.

A great big welcome back to Morgan Hill Lock and Key with Rick Best and Tricia McBain, who will help get your auto, home, or business unlocked or rekeyed. It’s nice to know that we have this service available again. Give them a call at 710-0117.

In closing, Mother Teresa shared some wonderful words about generosity. “There is a hidden poverty more pervasive than lack of money. It is the poverty of the heart.” Find three ways this week to generously give of your time, attention and resources to others. Your generosity will come back to you threefold.

I’m going to spend some time with my Marine, Lance Corporal Ethan Salzano, who is visiting before he leaves for K-Bay, Hawaii. A big hi and good luck to Lance Corporal Teal Peterson, USMC who is also off to a new duty station. Blessings to all our military families and a great big thanks to Home Depot Project Homefront with over one million volunteer hours and one million dollars in home improvement materials and support being donated to help the families of all active duty military. While they take care of our homeland, we’ll take care of their homes.

Please contact me at ma***************@***oo.com to share your events, a hometown hero or other news or information that needs to see the light of day. I’m always looking for names of active service people, too.
