SEMIPRO FOOTBALL: ’Stormers win 22-21 to climb above .500

Victory could propel Bulldogs to CCS; Final home game a big test
for Acorns
SHS (4-3, 2-2) at Willow Glen (5-2, 3-1), 7 p.m. Friday

Nobody said returning to the playoffs was going to be easy for Sobrato.

With their backs to the wall at 2-2 in the Santa Teresa Division, the Bulldogs have their work cutout for them at 7 p.m. Friday at Willow Glen. The Rams have an FBS prospect under center in Mitchell Ravizza, and a defense that has been tough to score against.

Sobrato likely has to sweep its final three games to make the postseason, and this could easily be the toughest one.

LOHS (4-3, 2-2) vs. No. 7 Piedmont Hills (6-1, 4-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Last week’s 59-14 loss to Oak Grove could not have gone worse for Live Oak.

The Acorns still control their postseason fate but are even more injury-strapped for the final three Mount Hamilton Division games. At 7 p.m. Friday, they host another top-10 opponent in visiting No. 7 Piedmont Hills.

Live Oak and Piedmont Hills produced thrilling matchups from 2008-09, leaving open the possibility of an upset if Live Oak can contain the Pirates’ high-powered offense.

Should the Acorns lose, they will likely have to win out at Leigh and at Leland to make the playoffs.
