Live Oak used good teamwork and focus to earn an 8-7 win Friday night in game one of the third season against Leigh.

The Acorns ended the winter season in third place and fell short one goal in a playoff game against Leland.

It was another tight game for Live Oak, which trailed 6-2 at one point. Kyle Dutra scored five goals and had three assists. Scott Alexander scored two goals and had an assist. Freshman newcomer Daniel Daly scored his first goal when Dutra made a shot that was blocked by Leigh’s goalie. With no whistle, Daly’s persistent attack at the net paid off and he scored. Paul Anderson had an assist.

Others who contributed to the win were Kyle Rosenzweig, Michael Widergren and Christian Simonsen. Solid in the net was goalie Ryan Listol.

Live Oak faces off against Lincoln at 9pm today.
