Flames from a fully-engulfed home lit up the early morning sky Wednesday as firefighters battled to keep the blaze from spreading to the surrounding dry vegetation and a nearby mobile home.
No one was at home at the 1125 East Main Ave. residence, which is believed to be abandoned. The fire was reported at approximately 1am, and shortly afterward, had consumed the entire home.
South Santa Clara County Fire District crews responded to the fire, along with crews from Santa Clara County Fire Department and Gilroy Fire Department.
Fire officials are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the early morning blaze. It is considered to be “suspicious” at this time.
The amount of financial loss has not yet been determined. The house was completely destroyed by the fire.
