Move over Versace, Ralph Lauren and Betsey Johnson. Make some room on the racks for some budding fashion designers.
High school students with a passion for designing clothes — with some help from classmate runway models — will put their original designs on display May 2 during Live Oak High School’s 24th annual Fashion Show inside the school theater on campus.
More than 300 student-crafted garments will be modeled by 100 students. The theme for this year’s show is “Earth, Wind, Fire & Water, The Elements of Fashion.” Tickets are $4 for the 4 p.m. show and $7 for the 7 p.m. show.
Students featured in the fashion show — including Victoria Hattick, Rachel Hart, Courteney Chavez, Jada Anderson, Megan Bennett, Isabeau Flynn, Ashley Rowen, Codi Davis and Cassidy Parker — are enrolled in LOHS’s clothing class and Regional Occupational Programs, or ROP, Fashion Design class.
In the classes, students learn garment construction, color and textile selection as they are trained for jobs in the field of fashion design and manufacturing.
