Absence makes the heart – and appetite – grow fonder. Morgan Hill’s farmers’ market returns Saturday 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. after closing in December for the season.

The location is the same, at Third and Depot streets, with parking available adjacent in the Caltrain station parking lot. Shoppers will want to find parking early this particular Saturday because the No Bull Barbecue converges onto nearby Community and Cultural Center from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. More than 5,000 meat-lovers are expected.

The healthier of the two events has added more food and nutrition education opportunities, new organic farmers, cooking demonstrations, crafts for children and opportunities for nonprofit organizations. Don’t miss the free samples.

This season’s harvest, direct from California Certified growers and producers, brings in Watsonville’s sweet strawberries, the first cherries of the year straight from Modesto, local field flower bouquets, and organic produce from leafy greens to onions to some baked goods.

Weekly crop updates will be updated on the Morgan Hill Facebook Page each Saturday before the farmers’ market is open. Shoppers can also enjoy free recipes at the market’s information booth and on the farmers’ market Facebook page.
