Students win Rotary awards
Four Morgan Hill students, each chosen by their school as top student, were honored with “Outstanding Student Achievement Awards” by the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill. Kayla Harper from P.A. Walsh Elementary School, Jaquieline Yago from Barrett Elementary School and Michaela Austin from Paradise Valley Elementary School.
Rotary presented each student with a $100 U.S. Savings Bond for their future education and an achievement certificate, and also recognized their parents and school officials at luncheon ceremonies held Jan. 14.
The awards recognize and reward outstanding achievement as exemplified by academic performance, individual leadership, commitment to community and overall excellence.
Rotary’s recognition program is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to serve the youth of the community.
Bring warm coat to Paradise Valley school
Through Jan. 30, the Paradise Valley Elementary School Home and School Club and Student Council are hosting a coat drive.
Bring a new or used warm coat or jacket to the school, located at 1400 La Crosse Drive.
Donations will be given to nonprofits like Community Solutions and Catholic Charities.
Texas Hold ‘Em Tourney to fund LO girls soccer
Live Oak High School’s girls soccer team will have a fundraising event at 6 p.m. Friday Jan. 30 at Troy’s Bocce & Wine Bar, 650 Tennant Station. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and the tournament begins at 7 p.m.

South Valley Wine Auction coming soon
The annual South Valley Wine Auction will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 3, in the Hiram Morgan Hill room of the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road.
This is the premiere event of its kind in the South Valley and is one of Morgan Hill Unified School District’s largest fundraisers.
Funds raised benefit all sports programs in our middle and high schools.
The event is a collaboration between Live Oak and Sobrato High schools.

‘Guys and Dolls’ at Mount Madonna School
Come see the middle school production of “Guys and Dolls,” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students.
Visit classes in session and tour the facilities on a Campus Tour Day, 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
