Morgan HIll Student Wins Scholarship Award

MORGAN HILL RESIDENT CHRIS MATSUOKA, a senior at MONTE VISTA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL in Watsonville, has received a COMCAST “LEADERS AND ACHIEVERS” SCHOLARSHIP for his college education.

The Comcast scholarship program invites high school principals to nominate the best and brightest seniors in their schools. The award is intended to motivate students to be involved in their communities, to develop a sense of citizenship and to become stronger leaders.

“This scholarship will be a real help,” said Matsuoka. “I appreciate the encouragement they have given me.”

Matsuoka enrolled at Monte Vista Christian School when he was in seventh grade. In the fall, he will attend Biola University, a Christian university in Southern California. “Chris is a great student, and I know he’ll do well as he follows God’s guidance in his life,” said Jeff Hoogeveen, assistant superintendent for academic affairs at Monte Vista Christian School.
