Participants included pet oriented groups like Four Paws Dog Daycare, Morgan Hill Dog (the Dog Park promoters), All About Critters as well as Norcal Seed Sowers, NRA Council, and South Valley National Bank.
Attendees were given tips, suggestions and ideas from two premier west coast parade masters: Ray Pulver of Upbeat Parades and Dave Thomas of East-West Productions. Topics included: How to become a really cool parade unit, performing for the review stand, parade blunders and how to avoid them, preparing to have a float in a parade, designing a float – considerations, build your own float or get help.
The Morgan Hill 2009 July 4th Parade is themed “A Salute to America’s Heroes.”
“Drawing over 50,000 attendees last year, this year’s parade promises to be even more exciting,” IDI parade committee chair Jeff Dixon said.
Entrants typically include marching bands, equestrians, floats, clowns and a classic plane flyover as well as local dignitaries, fire, police, and National Guard units.
Morgan Hill’s parade is the “Official” Santa Clara County Parade and one of the largest in Northern California, Dixon noted.
