Esther McMurray, born April 8, 1911, in Sandpoint, Idaho, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005. She was 93.
Since moving to Gilroy from Seattle in 1978, Esther and her husband, Earl, were very active in New Hope Community Church (formerly First Assembly of God). She loved children and became director of the Children’s Church in the 1980s. She is dearly and fondly remembered as she was very close and special to her family.
Many years ago the Lord gave Esther, as a young mother, a promise from His Word, Isaiah 54:13 – “All your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children.”
Esther is survived by her sister Helen Sisley of Burien, Wash., children Rev. Donald Earl McMurray of Gilroy; Donna Joy Lee of Kent, Wash.; Patricia Faith McMurray of Seattle, Wash.; Esther Yvonne Haas of Gilroy; David Andrew McMurray of Issaquah, Wash.; Bonnie Jean Kuhn of Chelan, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Earl, died in 1994.
Viewing takes place at noon on Friday, Feb. 4, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Graveside services take place at 1pm on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park. Pastor Rev. Malcolm MacPhail will officiate.
