Dear Editor,
I’ve been so enraged by Deputy Ron Breuss’s actions with the arrest of a Live Oak student that I’ve had to wait several days before writing for fear of revealing my true feelings.
Breuss was (perhaps still is) the SLO (Saratoga High School liaison officer) who is supposed to be a compassionate understanding person while working with kids. I quote Breuss from the Saratoga High School web site: (http://www.svcn.com/archives/saratoganews/12.24.97/RonBreuss.html)
Breuss, a father of two, said he is looking forward to working with students, in addition to learning from them.
“I think I can impact the kids in a positive way,” Breuss said, adding that he wants to become a bridge between the Sheriff’s Office and the schools. Breuss said his goal is to have open communication between students and law enforcement.
Obviously Officer Breuss is a dismal failure and has not learned anything from the students he works with. Kids in school are just that, they are kids and they are human beings. They act goofy, silly and make a lot of mistakes and do impulsive things. They are not grown-up, mature adults who never make mistakes. Officer Breuss should be reprimanded and he should make a personal and public apology to the student, his family and the Live Oak High School.
Officer Breuss: just because you were dressed as the Grim Reaper does not mean you had to act like him.
