Independence Day is a dangerous holiday on account of the rampancy of drunk drivers out and about, according to the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Department. 
 
In hopes to prevent DUI accidents, police departments in Morgan Hill and Gilroy have teamed with other law enforcement agencies in the county to saturate the streets with patrol officers specifically hunting for drunk drivers on Friday, July 5. 
 
Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, court probation and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
