Dear Editor:

Apparently, the “Correction” item on Page Two of the August 6-8 edition correcting the author of “Is the United States a Christian Nation” as Ben Gilmore, printed on the Opinion page of the Aug. 2 edition, was missed by several readers. The error occurred when my picture and brief autobiography was placed next to the above article as the author.

Unfortunately, this has resulted in, if not “hate” e-mail, “very disturbed” e-mail.

In past articles on the Opinion pages, I have written about nostalgia and history, relating to the present. I believe at 75 years I may bring some enlightenment to those younger than I. Additionally, I believe, authors have published article-related, public-interpreted  personas. Call it style. This article was not my persona, which doesn’t mean I agree or disagree with the premise of Ben Gilmore. I just believe I have a different style. In fact, anyone who may have thought the article was mine may have been highly perplexed.
