Tornadoes U13 girls soccer team wins one, loses one, ties one in
season debut at San Carlos tournament
The Tornadoes, an U13 soccer team with girls from Morgan Hill and Gilroy, began their season with a tournament in San Carlos last weekend. In their first tournament, the Tornadoes won one, lost one and tied one.

In their first match, the Tornadoes lost to the Pacifica Blaze 2-0, although they played the Blaze to a 0-0 tie in the first half.

In their second game, the Tornadoes tied the Heritage Strikers 2-2, roaring back from a first-half deficit as Clayton broke the ice with the Tornadoes’ first score of the season on a breakaway.

In their final game, the Tornadoes picked up their first victory of the season by beating the Tuolomne Firestorm 3-1. Block scored twice and Clayton added another goal for the local squad.

After playing for several years in OVYSL, the Tornadoes are now playing under the SSJYSL banner. And for the first time, they’re playing against Class 1 competition.

The Tornadoes opened with Nichole Downing in goal, while Cloey LemMon, Stephanie Wan and Lindsay Pund anchored the defense. Bella Comin, JC Clayton, Amanda Whitling and Lexi MacPhail patrol the midfield and Sarah Block, Amanda Kline, Taylor Johnson, Alex Seda and Mary Thatcher split time between the back and front lines.
