Grab the kids and get to the Disney on Ice presentation of “Passport To Adventure.” It is delightful, educational and full of clever choreography, glorious costumes, exhilarating music and special effects. It has all the favorite Disney characters you can bundle in one evening without going into overdrive.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy host the event, taking the kids on an action-packed tour of the imagination with vignettes from favorite Disney classics. Audience members traverse the globe, joining Lilo and Stitch as they embrace “ohana,” the family spirit of Hawaii; Fly to Never, Never Land with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell; Go under the sea with Ariel and Sebastian in the saga of the “Little Mermaid”; And make tracks to the African pride lands with Simba and Nala. Everything is faithfully recreated with all the characters our kids have come to know and love so well.
Director Jerry Bilik (a staple with Disney On Ice as vice president of creative development since its inception in 1980), is sensitive enough to see the productions through the eyes of creative minds, and keeps the show moving at a mind boggling pace.
Cindy Stuart, choreographer who has worked with Rosalyn Sumners, Nancy Kerrigan, Katarina Witt, Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, and Chen Lu, is an artist who paints beautiful routines that are more than the usual ice show shtick. Her imaginative presentations keep the attention of 3-year-olds as well as the adults who come to enjoy a unique evening with their children.
The costumes by Arthur Bocca sport everything from nightgowns and grass skirts to fishes under water. Glorious and magnificent costumes appear in the extravaganza and each is true to the character in the design and detail.
With a talented cast of outstanding, champion skaters from the four corners of the world, combined with reminiscent music we all know, the production is completed with stunning lighting by Patrick Dierson, and Robert Smith’s scenic designs. The show does exactly what it’s suppose to do; it gives off a glow of happiness and well being with the possibility of happily ever after.
A fun evening is guaranteed with the Disney On Ice’s production of “Passport To Adventure.” The kids will be elated to see their animated friends come to life and the adults will enjoy the sounds, beauty and artfulness of the production.
