16th Annual Taste of Morgan Hill promises more than just a bite to eat
The Taste of Morgan Hill, presented by the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, Sept. 23 through 25, is being heralded as one of the most exciting in its 16-year history.
The Taste of Morgan Hill begins Friday evening, Sept. 23, with a Street Dance at the intersection of Monterey Road and Second Street in Downtown Morgan Hill, featuring the party music of Live Action Heroes.
Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 6pm, the Taste of Morgan Hill will take place in Downtown Morgan Hill on Monterey Road, between Main Street, to the north, and Dunne Avenue to the south. Games and rides for children, juried arts and crafts, and commercial products will be sold along the median on Monterey Road.
For the second year, the South Valley Quilt Association will be holding an extraordinary Quilt Show in Morgan Hill’s Community and Cultural Center. Approximately 250 quilts will be on exhibit with a special section devoted to kids’ quilts (up to age 18) and the Kids Corner is back with kid-friendly quilting activities. Five beautiful door prize quilts will be available at the Quilt Show and three at the Classic Car Show registration booth. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The Taste of Morgan Hill Custom and Classic Car Show also will be making its 16th appearance as part of the weekend’s festivities. More than 100 classic custom cars will grace Monterey Road between Fourth Street and Dunne Avenue over the weekend
The annual event will offer the true taste of Morgan Hill with only local restaurants and caterers featured this year. More than 25 Morgan Hill restaurants will be featuring their exceptional fare in three food courts. Two will be on either side of Monterey Road at Third Street, and another food court will be located at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center.
Experience Art in 30 Minutes or Less, as well, by attending a showing of 2004 Poppy Jasper Film Festival winners held at the Community Playhouse on Saturday, Sept. 24. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the show will begin at 7pm.Â
The 16th Annual Taste of Morgan Hill will also feature bands performing at Monterey Road and Second Street, as well as in the amphitheater located at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, located at Monterey Road and Dunne Avenue. Performances will occur on Saturday and Sunday and will feature a wide variety of music from the Wind Symphony to blues to country to rock ‘n roll!

Marc Russo & the Classy Cats and the Great Guglielmo Grape Stomp featured at Family Winery’s 14th Annual Harvest Festival
A great way to commemorate the end of summer, Guglielmo’s Harvest Festival promises to be a fun-filled day of wine, food, skill games and dancing. All-inclusive tickets include a delicious Santa Maria Steak BBQ prepared by the Guglielmo family and friends – complete with pasta con pesto, garlic bread, salad, dessert, and of course, the award-winning wines of the third-generation family winery in Morgan Hill.
One of the most popular after-dinner events is the Great Guglielmo Grape Stomp, where attendees can sign up for a chance to try their hand (feet) at making wine the old fashion way. Before dinner, Guglielmo will again offer their unique games of skill like the salami toss and botched-up bocce ball. Contestants have a chance to win Guglielmo Bucks redeemable in Guglielmo’s Gift Shop. Additionally, there will be numerous raffles and other fun events through the evening. Returning this year to the main music stage is the popular Marc Russo & the Classy Cats, performing some of their special hot dance music.Â
This all-inclusive event is guaranteed to be a great way to spend a late summer afternoon and evening. Tickets are $45 general admission and $35 for Guglielmo Wine members.
Reserve your tickets at 779-2145 or visit Guglielmo Winery’s Tasting Room at 1480 E. Main Avenue, Morgan Hill – just across the street from Live Oak High School.

Volunteers needed to deliver meals to homes
Volunteers throughout Santa Clara County are needed to help deliver meals to homebound elderly and disabled adults who rely on Meals on Wheels for hot, nutritious food.
Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10am and 1pm and volunteers are asked to commit to at least one day a week for a minimum of six months. Volunteers use their own cars and must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Food is prepared in the kitchen of local hospitals under the direction of registered dieticians who take into account chronic health problems or special diets.
In addition to delivering the food, volunteers provide a friendly visit – often the only contact a client will have with the outside world.
