The Friends of the Morgan Hill Library invite all interested library supporters to attend a meeting to discuss raising funds to help furnish the new Morgan Hill Library (scheduled to open in 2007).
The meeting will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, July 20, in the meeting room of the library at 17575 Peak Ave. Subjects for discussion include fundraising projects, donor recognition, and library needs. All ideas and suggestions are welcome.

4th Annual Cool Brews For Cool Pools Festival July 23rd
The Fourth Annual Cool Brews For Cool Pools Festival will be held on July 23 from 11am to7pm at the Morgan Hill Cultural Center. Admission is free this year and 20 breweries will be on hand, including El Toro and Coast Range along with Tied House, Rock Bottom, Los Gatos, Faultline plus many more. Wine from Guglielmo, Clos La Chance, Pedrizetti and Solis will be available as well.
Music will be provided by Shane Dwight Band, JJ Hawg, Usual Suspects and the Woogie Men.
Trail Dust BBQ and My Pizza will be providing the food throughout the day. The Kids Zone will keep the little ones happy with a giant Tsunami Water slide, jump house and games. Tasting kits with 10 tastes and a mug cost $15.
Film festival seeks entries
Poppy Jasper Film Festival is accepting entries of short films in a variety of genres for the second Poppy Jasper Film Festival Nov. 11 to 13.
Submissions are taken only from California residents or students enrolled in California schools. Films must be no more than 30 minutes. Categories to be judged include: drama, documentary, music, comedy and open. The latter category is meant to encompass all avant-garde films or submissions that defy traditional classification.
The Morgan Hill Experience category will once again feature films that focus on the people, history or environment of the festival host city. The submission deadline for all films is Aug. 1.
Early entries are highly encouraged. There is a late deadline of Aug. 15 but with an additional fee. Standard entry fee is $30 ($10 for students). Late submissions are $50 ($15 for students).

The inaugural event, held last November, featured some 30 films, five workshops and 1,000 attendees.

Teen performers needed for ‘Count Dracula’
Gilroy – South Valley Civic Theatre will be holding auditions for teen performers for their production of ‘Count Dracula,’ a drama based on Bram Stoker’s 19th century novel, ‘Dracula.’
The show is produced by Richard and Becky Kaiser and directed by JoAnna Evans. They are looking for seven young men and two young women between the ages of 13 and 19. Auditioners should prepare a short monologue of one to three minutes in length. Bring a resume and a photograph.
Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 23, at 9am and 12:30pm. Also on Sunday, July 24 at 9:30am at the SVCT warehouse, 8565 Monterey Road.

Registrar distributes language surveys
San Jose – The Santa Clara County Registrar has mailed its preferred voter survey, which asks voters to select in which language they would like to receive their ballot materials.
The survey is an attempt to reduce the cost of elections and ensure that all voters can read their ballot packets. Surveys are also available at polling places and the registrar’s Web site, www.sccvote.org.
