A resident reported finding a decomposed body in Aromas Monday afternoon.
The reporting resident told deputies he was walking on Cannon Road collecting wood for a home project when he discovered the body near Chateau Road. The resident showed investigators the location of the body, according to a statement from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators went to the scene for follow-up examination, collection of evidence and removal of the body.
An autopsy will determine the sex of the body and possible cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office. It is unclear how long the body was there.
