The Drug Enforcement Administration arrested a San Martin man and a slew of others as the result of an 18-month-long investigation and seized $1 million in drugs and more than $500,000 in cash from locations around the South Bay, one in Morgan Hill and one in San Martin.
Orlando Davison, 54, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according DEA Special Agent in Charge Javier Pena. A residence in the 800 block of San Vicente Court was searched, as well as a home in the 13300 block of Harding Avenue.
The investigation led to the seizure of 23 pounds of ice methamphetamine, nine kilograms of cocaine, one shotgun and five vehicles.
A drug trafficking cell stretching from down through southern California to Mexico and east to Atlanta, Georgia was uncovered.
“This drug trafficking cell was responsible for the transfer of large sums of cash in exchange for substantial amounts of ice methamphetamine and cocaine for distribution in the Bay Area,” Pena said. “This combined enforcement effort clearly demonstrates our commitment to dismantle these cells and disrupt drug trafficking organizations at their highest levels.”
The investigation began in 2006 after agents learned about the cell, which they believed was led by Antonio Abarca of Menlo Park.
Also arrested were Roberto Garcia, 63, of San Jose, Matilde Lopez, 28, of San Jose, Luz S. Reyes, 23, of San Jose and Maria Reyna, 38, of Menlo Park.
Charges included conspiracy, transportation, possession for sale and possession of drug proceeds.
Warrants were issued for Antonio C. Abarca, 42, of Menlo Park, Maria Castaneda, 51, of Hemet, Raul Mendoza, 20 of Tracy and Eric J. Barragan, 22 of Riverbank.
